Campus Encounters – Bridging Learners “Developing Competences for Next Generation Service Sectors” April 13–14, 2011, Porvoo, Finland After a highly successful international Conference on Regional Development and Practice-Based Learning held in Porvoo in 2008, there has been a strong wish for another conference to bring together international scholars, researchers, service developers and providers, entrepreneurs, administrators, educators and students with common interest in bridging learners and developing competences for next generation service sectors.
HAAGA-HELIA and Laurea, two well-recognised Universities of Applied Sciences, together with their key partners, are delighted to invite you to this conference. You are welcome to submit theoretical and practice-related proposals from areas such as tourism, wellness, creative industries, knowledge intensive business services and education. Industrial and institutional professionals are also invited to share their research and work experience related to the theme of the conference. The conference will offer various working formats such as paper and poster sessions, workshops, panels, industry presentations and Pecha Kucha (www.pecha-kucha.org). Other presentation formats can also be considered (art performance, installations, and other). The conference will take place on April 13-14, 2011 in a versatile and innovative learning environment of Porvoo Campus (www.porvoocampus.fi) located in Porvoo, a touristic town about 50 km East of Helsinki. Abstracts (250-500 words, in English) should be sent via the conference website (www.encounters11.org) by November 15, 2010. The confirmation of acceptance and feedback will be sent by December 10, 2010. Submissions of full papers and other contributions should be made no later than March 10, 2011. Themes Development of Future Competencies, Technology in Service Sectors, Communication in Service Sectors, Co-creation, Innovative Methodologies and Learning Experiments, Curriculum Planning and Promoting Regional Innovations. Registration fees: €250 - early birds by February 28, 2011; €300 – a full registration fee; €125 - early bird students; €150 – a regular student registration fee.
